The government on Wednesday announced that dearness allowance for govt employees has been hiked to 6 per cent.
The 'restore old pension' campaign is being spearheaded by the National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS), a federation with over 13 lakh government employees as its members.
"The proposal would benefit employees following Industrial Dearness Allowance pattern of pay scales in CPSEs which are in a position to absorb the additional expenditure without budgetary support," Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters after a Cabinet meeting.
The increase is in accordance with the accepted formula, which is based on the recommendations of the 6th Central Pay Commission, it said.

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) on Monday set May 3 as the deadline for subscribers to opt for a higher pension.
